Insane In The Membrane...

Me: "I just wanted to see if I could come in and get marked...Alex is afraid that he's giving me the shot in the wrong place, because it's hurting so bad."

Nurse: "Get marked?"

Me: "Yes, you guys have marked my backside before, to make sure the shot is given in the right spot."

Nurse: "Jill, where is Alex giving you the shots?"

Me: "In my backside...like I do all of my IM injections."

Nurse: "Jill, the stims are supposed to be in your stomach along with your lupron...what are you and Alex doing over there?"

Me: "Playing doctor."

*laughing on both ends of the phone*

I have lost my mind, people. I've been having Alex give my stims injections, into my backside with this...

When I was supposed to be putting them in my stomach with this...

Luckily, my E2 levels have gone up and the meds are working, despite the fact that they've been going directly into the muscle in my backside. I felt so stupid, but couldn't stop laughing. Poor Alex...he has held me every night, because I've cried after every shot. Granted, I'll have to do IM's once transfer is here, but I could have saved myself a sore rear-end for another week or so!

INSANE IN THE BRAIN!

That's too funny! Not for your poor backside though :) The second needle looks much less scary, more like the one I use for stims :)I'm glad the shots still worked. They'll definitely be easier from here!

Oh, my!!! I'm so glad you figured it out. We used one of those big, nasty needles to mix the Menopur with the Follistim last night, and then we changed out that needle for a little one. I can't imagine how painful that huge needle must have been for you.

Onwards and upwards, friend!

Oh my goodness! I can't imagine! Terence was giving me shots in the stomach and it was not near as bad as I thought it would be...I hate needles! hopefully this will go a little better for you both now that you know where it's supposed to go!

Oh little stomach needle is so much better than long butt needle. Neither is fun...but little stomach needlees are way less painful.
Good luck, girl.

Praying for you!!

OH. MY. GOSH. I wondered why that needle seemed so big. I haven't done IM shots, so I had no clue. Now, I'm really glad I haven't had to!

I am glad you laughed about this too, cuz it sure made me laugh.
With so many meds to take I understand the confusion. Too funny!
I hope your feeling okay on all the meds!

I'm glad you figured it out!

For IVF #2 I gave several sub-Q shots in my stomach with the long IM needle and just stuck them in partway, until I noticed the other package of needles. Then I ended up running out of the long needles and had to get more!

There's an awful lot to keep track of.

You SO crack me up. When I read your blog it as if you are telling me the story in person. I just LOL while reading it.

So glad you are on track now....I wouldn't know where ANY of the meds or needles go so you are WAY ahead of where I would be if I was in your shoes.

Still praying for you and Alex!!! Hope you have a GREAT Wednesday!!

Oh dear Jill, you poor thing!! I thought that needle looked like the big one that you use for mixing, that is also quite blunt isn't it?? I just thought every clinic is different. Your poor butt! Glad the meds are working though :)

Oh, honey! I kind of wondered after reading your previous post, but I just assumed your clinic had you on a different protocol than I had used. Glad you called the nurse!

Oh, Jill, your POOR THING! How awful, but glad they resolved it for you.
I walked around with black permanent marker circles on my butt for months. LOL

Oh my goodness you poor thing. I'm glad that you figured it out. Shots are so not fun anyway and injecting them in the wrong place only makes it worse. I remember feeling like a pin cushion during my fertility journey as well. It is all worth it!!!!

Girl, i could spank you myself. I couldn't believe it when you said you were taking the stim shots in the backside. I'm glad you got that sorted out.

Hi! thanks for commenting on my blog. I have been reading yours and learning all about your story. I will be praying for you!!! Sorry, about all the painful shots- I can't imagine what that must be like. I will check back often.

Glad you got that cleared up! I even hate the small needle for the HcG shots, so i couldn't imagine the bigger needle.. Praying for you guys and happy wednesday!

Jill,

Bless your heart! I was just checking in on your blog to see if the shots were getting better, when we emailed on Sunday I was worried about you. So glad you figured it out, don't worry though it is all so confusing! Just so thankful your responding to the meds... that is the important thing. I am praying hard for you guys. The shots in the stomach are not that bad at all, will probably feel like nothing compared to what you have been feeling.
Hugs,
Casey

Hey! Yes, I got that at the TJM and More in Conway. I love that one! :) You need to go to The Kitchen Store next time you are in Conway. It is awesome! You can google the directions. I don't know any street names even though I went to UCA. :)

oh my! I am glad you didn't do them all that way. I sure do hate the butt shots. :) I like the little needles much better.
My thing that I did with my behind shots was...sit on ice for 15 min. then get the shot (i was all numb) and then casey and I would put a hot rice pack on it after. It worked great and they never really hurt. It was a process every night. I am praying for you through this journey!!!

You poor darling! You are so brave Jill. Truly. But the end result, (please God) in a few months time, is going to be totally worth it. Till then, I recommend chocolate and pumpkin pie as a reward for bravery!
