Best pap smear I've ever had...

I set up an appointment with my new OB/GYN months back. I was hoping to be pregnant by the time I went in to see him but as we all know, that didn't work out. Anywho, I had to go see him today because it was time for my yearly. I walked into the waiting room and no lie, I WAS THE ONLY WOMAN OUT OF 10 THAT WAS NOT PREGNANT...everywhere I turned there were big pregnant bellies! I thought I was going to have a panic attack...I had to call Alex to talk me down. LOL (I'm so not joking - but I can laugh about it now) I don't know what I expected to see at an OB's office but at my last doc's office there were never pregnant women in the waiting area. That's weird now that I think about it.

They finally called me back and I changed into the beautiful gown they supply and waited patiently. It didn't take long for him to come in and let me just tell you...this man was the most kind, compassionate, sincere (I could go on and on) doctor I have ever met in my life. He sat and we discussed why I was there and he started asking me questions about my history. I was to the point of telling him about my IVF cycle and when the words "it failed" left my mouth, I was in tears. He didn't make me feel stupid for crying and didn't seem uncomfortable with the situation either (unlike my last doc), he just handed me a kleenex and listened. We talked for quite a while and then he started the exam. After the exam, he came over and took my hand (he's old enough to be my grandfather by the way) and asked if he could pray for me. I said yes and he began to pray for me, Alex and our future family. *tears really began to fall at this point* After he prayed he gave me a hug and told me that he and his staff are there to help me with anything I might need and to just call. He told me that he would see me when I got pregnant or in a year, whichever came first. :)

It was awesome to me that my new doc is a man of God and that he prays for his patients like that. He told me a story of a woman that came into his clinic years back...he told her that she would never get pregnant due to a diseased fallopian tube. She walked back into his clinic 5 months later and wouldn't you know it, she was pregnant. He said she was the first patient in all his years of practicing that he ever told that...she was also the last. He told me that God is the giver of life and encouraged me to not lose hope.

How awesome is my new doctor!?

I called Alex back after the appointment...told him it was the best pap smear I've ever had.

Ok when I first saw the title of your post I was like she must have had anesthesia or good drugs lol.

But it was even better than that. Those doctors are few and far between - cherish him! I am so glad it went well.

We sometimes find hope in the strangest places. I'm sending you good thoughts that you will need to see him before your next annual.

Jill that is so blessed and lucky. I would give a lot to have a doctor who believed in God and miracles & shared my faith. That makes such a difference. I find that there are times in my life when I'm so low that though I know God is there, I want a human touch and you know what, He always sends it to me in the most unsual places. I think you just had God tell you He is still very much in love with you and cares to put a smile on your face. (Once again, a comment that's a little longer than I planned it to be)

If there was am award for doctor of the year, he should get it. What a kind hearted, wonderful doc you seem to have found. Don't let him get away! A person as kind as you deserves to get compasionate care, so I'm glad you had a good visit. Who ever would had thought pap smear and compassion went together :-) (Thanks for the prayers and kindness - it is much appreciated)

That is so AMAZING! That is awesome that you are surrounded by people like that. What an amazing dr. and Man of God. That is just what you needed. I agree with Amy-who would have thought that "best" and "papsmear" would appear together. :) Still praying!

My current RE is a Christian and his approach to reminding me every month that science is only a very small part of this whole pregnancy battle is priceless. I know that God is with us in that room everytime I get an u/s or an IUI, I just feel his presence there and I am forever grateful to have found that.
I know exactly what you mean about your new doctor and I am so glad you found him.
*hugs*

Awww, sometimes there is nothing we need more in life than a really great doctor (strange as that may sound). And I don't just mean in a "save you life" sort of way, but sometimes we just need to know that we are in good hands that that someone who REALLY knows what we are going through, really understands us as an individual.

((hugs))

I have been supersensitive lately about pregnant people, and babies in general. It's awful. Sunday we went to a party and I really wanted to LEAVE because of it.

I have my yearly in two weeks. I'm sort of excited to tell her everything that has been going on, because she will "get it", and she's been my OB forever. Course, I'd be WAY more excited IF I were pregnant.

For as many horrible people there are in the world, there are so many good ones. It's easy to loose sight of that, but your story is an excellent reminder.

I hope things are going well for you. June is rolling along quickly!

Wow, what an amazing doctor! The fact that he asked to pray for you and then actually prayed is so cool. I can tell just in your writing what a sweet spirit you have and I am so excited to see what God has in store for you!

Well, call me a little late, I am just now reading all the blogs and comments:) I am so thankful you have gone to Dr. Simmons, He is an awesome Godly man who gave me some of my best advice when I was having babies and I am thankful you are in his care. Although I did have Alex while the Dr. and Steve were there to busy watching the ball game, how neat for Him to deliver your and Alex's baby someday, since he did finally deliver Alex:)) I cannot wait for that day and KNOW it will come!! I love you and my heart is right there with yours.
