Long Time No Post...

I have been wanting to post for almost a week, but to be honest, I've been sick. Very sick. All I have been able to do is just lay here...praying that it will go away. I always hope to just fall asleep, because then I don't feel the nausea. The morning sickness is getting worse, not better. If anyone has any advice on how to help with the morning sickness, feel free to comment. Right now, I sit with cheerios on one side of me and a bowl on the other side. A very large bowl...to catch the cheerios, incase they decide not to stay down. I know...gross. I had hoped and prayed that I would be one of those women that didn't experience this, but knew in my heart that nothing about pregnancy has come easy, so I'm not surprised. I have never been more thankful to be at stay-at-home-wife. I have a sweet friend that is having to drag herself to work every day and is running to the bathroom, every 5 minutes. Bless her heart. I couldn't do it.

I'm praying that this lets up, at least for Sunday. The past couple of Sundays, God has been good. As soon as I need to go up on the stage to sing, I feel okay and I'm able to worship and not think about anything else, but Him. My parents are coming in this Easter and I'm looking forward to time with family, as well. I just want to be able to enjoy the day. Easter is such an emotional holiday for me...I'm so thankful for God's love. I'm thankful that He sent His Son to die. But let us not forget...it didn't end there...the true meaning of Easter is Jesus Christ's victory over death! He died, but more importantly, He rose again! His resurrection symbolizes the eternal life that is granted to all who believe in Him! Just makes me want to shout!! :)

I pray that you have a wonderful Easter holiday with family and friends. And I pray that we not lose sight of the true meaning of Easter.

Love to all,
Jill

I am sorry you are not feeling good!!! I felt icky for 3 weeks so it doesn't always last the whole first trimester, maybe your body will adjust to the extra hormones sooner! Glad you are in the position to stay home and rest, sounds like you need it!

Im so sorry you are so sick. I am pregnant with my sixth baby and I can tell you that nothing really takes it away. BUT....make sure you dont let your stomach get empty because then it is just so much worse. Also, you will learn what kinds of foods you can eat to make the sickness a little better, like for me junk food just made me worse but if I ate veggies and healthy stuff it seemed to make me feel better. Hang in there. This sickness means that baby is growing wonderfully.

The morning sickness really stinks. Take heart, this too shall pass. In my first trimester, I lived off of mashed potatoes. (Thank goodness we live so close to a Bojangles!!!) It seemed if I ate potatoes, mashed or baked, that I could keep those down. Keep your eye on the end prize. It's so worth it!!!!!!!

girl call the Dr and ask for Zofran!!! It was my miracle drug! It's TOTALLY safe, I know dozens of friends that have used it...I promise it will only get worse (the sickness) and that med really really works!

Hey girl--I feel your pain! I had a horrible stomach bug yesterday and one thing that really helped me was peppermint...I nibbled on some peppermints and I drank a cup of water with one drop of peppermint essential oil in it. I also put a cold washcloth on my head that was soaked with water and a little bit of the essential oil. I so wish I would have known about it when I was PG with the twins. I was soooooo sick! Another thing that helped me when I was PG with Gramm were sea bands. I got them at Walgreens. You wear them on your wrist. I never threw up from morning sickness with him. The essential oil is from Whole Foods, but it's also available online somewhere. Hope you feel better soon! xoxoxo Call me if you need anything!

I'm so sorry you are feeling icky, I've been there! The good news is that for most moms-to-be, it passes by the 2nd tri or so. In the meantime, sleep as much as possible, eat BEFORE you feel hungry because an empty stomach makes it worse. Sometimes home remedies like ginger or preggie pops help. For some reason, one coke a day helped me, so did lemon water and watermelon. If all else fails, ask you doctor if they think a prescription is worth it. I had Zofran during one pregnancy for a few weeks because I honestly needed it just to function and it helped.

I am so sorry for your sickness. I had "all day" sickness with both girls and it is very hard to continue doing daily chores through the whole time. My sickness started to let up at around 12 weeks and by 16 weeks I was able to eat everything I wanted and a lot of it. I also tried the sea bands and they seemed to make things some better. Ginger root (in the produce department of grocery store) seems to work for some people (cut off a little piece and chew and swallow). Lollipops helped me. If I had a sucker in my mouth I was pretty happy. Don't know why. Chewing gum also seemed to help me when I was working. The key is not to let the stomach get empty (I know that is hard when you are tossing everything you eat.....totally understand). I ate a lot of rolls with one of mine and that seemed to help too. It is all worth it in the end but at the time I know it is hard to push through. Hope this helps. Praying for you!

Oh, Jill, I am so sorry you are feeling so sick. It will go away, I promise, but that is little comfort in the moment, I know. It sounds like you are doing the best thing...just resting and snacking.
I am praying for you and your sweet baby.
When I was sick I would just talk to the baby and tell her things and talk to God as well. Sometimes it was things like "Please quit making me sick!!!" ha!
I will pray specifically for Sunday that you can have a feeling-good Easter!

I am so sorry Jill :( I got deathly (I remember praying for God to take me as crazy as that sounds, it was THAT BAD :) ill with every period before I had a baby, but then once I was pregnant, just mild nausea early on. And then after baby when I'd have a period... no more sickness.
I dunno, I eat a lot of salads when pregnant. It just seems to be what I want. Lots of cucumbers and grapes. I doubt that has anything to do with it though. It is a strange thing.
I sure hope it passes soon! In the meantime, let me know if I can help you with anything.

Not fun! So sorry you're feeling bad-- BUT it WILL pass- that's the good part! I felt terrible 24/7 for a solid 3 months, but didn't throw up, so...I know it couldn't be as bad as how you're feeling. :( Something that helped me because I felt the worst first thing in the morning is before I even sat up out of bed, I'd eat some crackers (Saltines... lived on them for awhile). Starting my day with something in my stomach helped a bit. Praying it passes quickly and for Baby Averitt- your miracle baby!

I remember well what you're feeling, and I hope it passes SOON! In case it doesn't though, Zofran really is worth talking to your doctor about - it works WONDERS!

Have a wonderful Easter.

God bless!

Jill! I hope by now you're feeling better and that you have a great Good Friday and Easter. Good luck singing on stage, and Glory to God no matter what comes out of your mouth, right? (Ew, that was kind of a gross joke...).
Happy Easter!

I've seen your updates on FB, and I'm so sorry that the nausea isn't letting up yet. Try to stay hydrated as best you can. Whenever I have digestive issues (not morning sickness, obviously) that's what makes me feel even worse - getting dehydrated. I find that drinking Smart Water is best when I feel like that because it has electrolytes in it, and that really helps prevent dehydration.

You are in my prayers.

You poor thing! I had an awful time with morning sickness during my pregnancies too. I found that 50 mg of Vitamin B taken morning and evening helped a lot. It didn't entirely take away the symptoms but kept me from having to sit by the toilet constantly. It does take a few days to kick in.

If you're really miserable, you could ask for some Zofran - I've never tried that but I know some have and it supposedly works really well.

I'll be praying for you. The first trimester can seem endless when you are feeling so icky.
*hugs*
Erika

If I don't drink enough water I get really nauseous and sick.

I also like to drink a Ginger Ale when I feel ill. Apparently ginger is great with helping with nausea (so is cinnamon).

Hi there. I'm a long time reader but first time commenter. I was terribly sick my second pregnancy (with twin boys), and the sea bands really helped. You can pick them up at select pharmacies. They're not very expensive...so it's worth a shot. Anywhoo, I enjoy reading your blog, and look forward to hearing more pregnancy stories.

You poor thing! I hope you have been in touch with your dr. If it is really bad they can prescribe anti nausea meds, and you SHOULD take them. The other thing I heard is that the more nauseous one is, the stronger the pregnancy. I'm not sure if its true, but in your case, it sounds like your baby is nestling in nicely!

Happy Easter!

I swear by tea! Peppermint or mint works wonders. But, when it is really bad, I've always just stayed in bed.

Hugs on the nausea. I'm sure that everybody has advice so I don't know if mine varies...but empty stomachs are no good. Ritz crackers and cheerios were what my dr told me the first time. Ha ha...YUCK. Protein and water supposedly helps. Honestly, if you're miserable...call your dr and ask for some zofran. It wasn't so bad with my first but for my next two (and some m/cs) as well as chemo...I got so sick I kept getting hospitalized which really stinks because that requires a lot more to make it stop. But regardless of whether you call the dr or not, continue to get fluids even in the form of fruits, water, popsicles. It does help to get up and move around some because sometimes that is what it takes to just feel better. It's different everyday. Many hugs and prayers. I know it's a great sign but it's still hard. I didn't fall in the likes of zofran until after my chemo and that was the worse case of the yucks...so now I encourage women to not be afraid of it.

sometimes i would eat jolly ranchers or life savers...it seemed to help...
the most helpful thing for me was keeping my tummy from getting empty, which is SO hard to do when you feel sick! i tried the wrist bands, the tea, the suckers, the ginger ale, saltine crackers....none of that worked for me. so sorry, but how very exciting that your body is doing exactly what it is supposed to do! love you, hang in there!

did you ask your doctor about Zofran? i took it with both pregnancies and it's okay to take it as often as you need it, it won't hurt your baby, it's safe! with John William i felt so good drinking limonade! lots of limonade and a snack here and there! with Sara nothing helped much but the zofran! it didn;t take completely away but it helped to tolerate the nausea and function!

Hi Jill...I don't know you but linked in through Kelly's blog most likely. I have 2 daughters pregnant at the same time (WHAT A BLESSING!) and one of them was so sick during her first 4 mos. that she lost almost 20 lbs! Anyhow...she did get an Rx for Zofran..it helped but she hated taking anything for fear it would hurt the baby. Her and her hubby came for a visit and she forgot to take her Pre-Natal Vitamins for a few days and she felt FINE. When she remembered...she started taking them again and began the cycle of throwing up all day long again. Doc changed her to a couple others with the same side effects. Her doc said to just get some Flintstone Vitamins...she did...has been fine ever since!

Just a little fyi. ;)

You poor darling. I remember it so well, being sick like that all the time. I always felt so ungrateful complaining, too. It will pass, though, I promise. I was SO SICK for so many weeks and then I just woke up one day and it was gone. And I felt fabulous again for months. I'll pray you get there SOON.
